It allows you to use JPG, GIF and many other image formats. It can change the desktop icons' background to transparent so that your pictures will show through the icons. It has customizable global htkeys so you can quickly change the wallpaper with any key combo. And it includes many more useful features.
It uses very little resources, and you don't even have to install it.
