The program reads incoming SMS messages from a mobile phone and takes various actions upon receipt. It can execute SQL queries, send SMs or Winpopup messages... everything according to the rules that you define. It can run as an NT service, so it's easy to use this program as a component of your bigger project, especially IIS and MSSQL based. Command-line console utility to send SMS is included.
To use this program you need a cellular phone with a data cable or IrDA (infrared) port. Ericsson R320, SonyEricsson R520, SonyEricsson T610, Falcom A2D modems, Nokia 6210/6310i are known to work.
After installing SmsRc, you will have some examples which shows what it can do. One of these examples is tailored for MSSQL "Northwind" sample database: upon receipt of a specially constructed short message, it updates status information for the given invoice.
