The idea behind ShotKeeper was to make a small, simple, and easy to use piece of software that could help people organize, view, and find their digital photos.

ShotKeeper is not in any way made to edit photos. However, ShotKeeper does make it easy to use such programs because it’s easy to start your favorite editor and begin editing a photo. If you do a lot of work on a photo and saves it as a new photo, ShotKeeper makes it easy to import the new photo so that you can see both versions.

ShotKeeper has a built in full screen photo viewer with a couple nice features--while viewing a photo, ShotKeeper is already loading the next photo in the background so that it gives you the next one in the blink of an eye.

There is also extensive filter and search possibilities built into ShotKeeper. You can search photos based on filename, subject and comments.

When selecting multiple categories, it’s possible to see either all photos in all the categories or just those photos that are in all the selected categories.
